The Mental Health and Wellbeing Portal is a new initiative that aims to provide the Deakin University community with ready access to mental health related information and support.
Anxiety, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse are common health problems that impact significantly on young people. University presents a unique set of challenges for many people, and may be especially stressful for students with mental health problems. For students in rural and regional areas, access to specialist mental health services is limited, and issues of stigma may prevent young people accessing local mental health services.
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Portal provides a central access point for students to connect with services, activities and resources that promote good mental health and/or provide specific mental health and drug and alcohol services.
A special feature of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Portal is moderated discussion forums on a range of topics where students can access peer to peer support and ask questions in a safe, completely anonymous space. The discussions are moderated by mental health professionals who are committed to supporting students with mental health problems.
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Portal is not just for students with mental health problems. There are a range of resources listed on the site that may be of benefit to students seeking information about activities, food services, and health services in your region.
Wishing you health, happiness, and success!
